Livestream

Posted in lets-play on 28Jul2012 by psivamp

For some unspecified reason, Livestream deleted all of my videos. So this LP now no longer exists. I may have a backup of the raw footage, but it was an unedited mess to begin with.

While I still hold that the game was good, it lacks something in replay factor — at least for me.

Employment and the last episode of the LP

Alright, started my new job today.  Good news pretty much all around.  I’m not working Wednesday night, so the stream that I had tentatively scheduled to make-up this Wednesday at 8 pm EDT is good to go.

The finale of my manic/lethal playthrough of the DXHR beta will be shown live at 8 pm EDT this Wednesday, July 13th.

Tonight’s stream is not to be

Posted in lets-play on 08Jul2011 by psivamp

I’m cancelling tonight’s stream. I suppose it would sound better if I said I were postponing it, but I don’t know when a good time would be to make it up. I begin a new job on Monday and don’t know yet what my hours will be and tonight is out of the question for personal matters.

Provided I don’t work next Wednesday at 8 pm EDT, I’ll tentatively plan to make up tonight’s stream then.  More later as I figure it out.

Mental difficulties

Posted in lets-play on 06Jul2011 by psivamp

Tonight’s regularly scheduled stream should go down at the usual time.  Unfortunately, in my excitement over finding the rocket launcher, I saved over the save slot for tonight’s game and lost last stream’s progress.  I should be able to make that up and be ready for the stream though. Also, ROCKET LAUNCHER! I’ll dedicate a post to that in a bit.

Edit: I managed to get back to where I need to be for tonight’s stream.  I’m going to go grab some dinner and then write up about getting the rocket launcher.

Technical difficulties continue…

So, I haven’t been able to do anything about the stuttering the stream, but I’ve re-enabled saving a local copy of the stream and that does not stutter.  So, unless I have a windfall economically and build a new PC in the next two weeks, the live streams will stutter and the recordings later will not.

Which brings me to point two, there are probably only two weeks left of my LP of Deus Ex:  Human Revolution leaked press beta.  This week finishes up the available missions in the Detroit hub and takes us to another location.  That location is fairly extensive and may take more than one session to do.  I’m not sure what I’m planning to do after I finish Human Revolution, I’m willing to take suggestions in the comments.

Edit: After tonight’s stream ending the stealth LP, I realized that this week is pretty much the end of the DXHR LPs, unless I decide to cobble together some miscellanea into something of a show.

Scheduling this week

Posted in lets-play on 27Jun2011 by psivamp

So, there’s some cascading scheduling changes. Josh, from Spoiler Warning is going on vacation and putting Spoiler Warning on hiatus for a week or two. Rutskarn, of Chocolate Hammer and also Spoiler Warning, is making up for it by doing another three day celebration of Hitmas — this Wednesday through Friday. Assuming Ruts does this streams at his usual time of 5 pm PDT (8 pm EDT), I will be doing my streams one hour early, so 7 pm EDT.

Stay tuned for further updates, because who knows what may happen.

DXHR, why it is Deus Ex

Posted in lets-play on 23Jun2011 by psivamp

The first mission was used by Eidos to showcase how you can approach a scenario in several varying ways.  The first mission is passable at this, but for the most part it just shows off how you can use the layouts for cover or stealth.  The police station is a very good example of being able to approach an objective several ways. Technical difficulties

Posted in lets-play on 22Jun2011 by psivamp

Not entirely sure what changed between the DX 01 streams and tonight’s attempt to record DX 02, but there’s some pretty severe stuttering going on.  A-and it’s not muh-my speech imp-impediment.  Unfortunately, there’s been alot going on for my laptop: I’m now running debug/developer binaries of DirectX, Livestream Procaster had an update that by default writes the stream to my local drive and I had a second monitor running for the past couple days (with the attendant changes to my nVidia desktop settings).

I’m going to keep looking into it.   I also plan to look into obtaining a desktop that can run the game better — I know, what would we do without the intense two minute loading sequences? If I don’t figure it out by Friday, I’ll just reenable the local copy because the local recordings aren’t plagued by stuttering — basically, lethloc and ViperMagi will suffer and anyone who views it later will have a superior viewing experience, but won’t be able to heckle me.

DX:HR tonight

Posted in lets-play on 22Jun2011 by psivamp

I plan on doing a stream tonight at 8 pm EDT. My suave/stealthy Adam Jensen will tackle the police station mission and side quests. Either after the stream, or tomorrow morning, I’ll post a quick discussion of a couple of the augs and how they tie into the characteristic multiple-entry gameplay of Deus Ex.

Deus Ex HR, with compassion

Posted in lets-play on 20Jun2011 by psivamp

Adam Jensen is, at heart, a man of peace; but also one who recognizes that sometimes peace can only be obtained through strength.  On the SWAT team, he fought to keep people safe, but resigned when it seemed that his superiors no longer had the same priorities. When they ordered him to shoot that augmented kid in Mexicantown, he refused and promised himself that he would find less violent ways to resolve conflict.

He came to work at Sarif Industries when his ex-girlfriend, Megan Reed, put in a good word with him to David Sarif.  Strictly speaking, his new security job doesn’t involve protecting innocents from criminals, but Jensen adapts and comes to view it in similar terms. Read more »
